öff öff productions

Heidi Aemisegger is a dedicated proponent of aerial choreography and is the key figure behind the scenes at öff öff productions. Each of her new productions strives to reorganize space and to redefine the boundaries of what dance can do. Her unique style is characterized by a relentless curiosity about the vertical dimension and the courage to create work in challenging environments, both indoor and outdoor. Often working in public spaces and other site-specific environments, her work literally hovers between the genres of dance, acrobatics, music and theater. If using preexisting categories is necessary, the closest terms for her work with öff öff productions would be "aerial dance" or "nouveau cirque."

The Swiss aerial dance company öff öff productions is known for its daring and unforgettable performances. Founded in Bern in 1994, the company has garnered acclaim on the international dance and nouveau cirque scenes. The company continues to amaze audiences with spectacular shows in unusual settings, leaving long-lasting impressions on many thousands of spectators worldwide. Their celebrated performances on the Kirchenfeld Bridge in Bern in 2003 made them into a household name in Switzerland. Their next large-scale outdoor production, Orbite, was premiered on a mountaintop near Bern in 2005 and has subsequently been performed at numerous major festivals throughout Europe. Orbite had its first overseas tour in June 2011 in Montreal, Canada

Heidi Aemisegger’s ingeniously constructed productions defy the laws of gravity and balance. An audacious and dedicated risk-taker (but still mindful of her team’s safety), she treads new paths through the air and sky.
